Mumbai: Mercedes Benz will invest Rs1,000 crore on production of luxury cars in Maharashtra. The announcement was made in a meeting between state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, MD & CEO of Mercedes Benz India Eberhard Kern, and future MD and CEO of the company, Roland Folger, on Monday evening, an official said on Tuesday. |

German Luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday launched in India SUV GLE that will be produced locally with starting price of Rs 58.90 lakh (ex showroom Delhi) to enhance its position in the market in New Delhi. The GLE will be available in two variants -- 250d with a 2,143 cc diesel engine priced at Rs 58.90 lakh, and 350d which is powered by 2,987cc diesel engine priced at Rs 69.90 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). |

German luxury car maker Mercedes- Benz today reported 34% increase in sales in India during the January-September period at 10,079 units. "By selling 10,079 units, Mercedes-Benz sold almost the entire volume of 2014 in the first nine months of 2015," Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement. |

Giving a thrust to local manufacturing of luxury cars, automaker Mercedes-Benz rolled out the Maybach S500 sedan from its India plant, making the facility on the outskirts of Pune only the second outside Germany to produce the car. Apart from the locally-manufactured Maybach S500, which will sell for Rs 1.67 crore, the German car major also introduced the imported Maybach S600 in the domestic market, which comes with a price tag of Rs 2.6 crore. German carmaker Mercedes-Benz sees business potential in offering on-demand limousine services using driverless cars, Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche said, in what amounts to a direct challenge to Uber. Germany's oldest carmaker is considering setting up large fleets of autonomous cars to cater to a new customer base which is less attracted to vehicle ownership but still interested in using premium transportation services like limousines. |

India's largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today launched the powerful AMG C 63 S at Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi) making it the eleventh launch for the year by the company. Mercedes, which had promised to make 15 launches in India this year, has so far launched ten AMG models in the Indian market, all of which are built in Germany and imported to India. These include S 63, E 63, SLK 55, GLA 63, G 63 to name a few. |

Mercedes-Benz India is expected to launch the AMG C 63 S in India on September 3. This will be the tenth AMG powered model to roll out in India, and the 11th model to go on sale in the country, under the '15 in 15' company strategy. In India, the powerful sibling of the C-class sedan will be powered by the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, good for 503 bhp and 71.4kgm of torque. |
