US e-commerce giant Amazon’s big push into fashion retail in the Indian market seems to be paying off, with the company on Tuesday announcing a jump of nearly two-and-a-half times in sales during the third edition of its Wardrobe Refresh Sale. Arun Sirdeshmukh, business head of Amazon Fashion, said this was the biggest-ever sale for the company. |

Amazon's Alexa will now butler at Marriott hotels

Amazon.com said on Tuesday that it has partnered with Marriott International to help increase guest access to amenities with Alexa, through its voice-controlled device Echo, in an attempt to expand its presence in the hospitality industry. Alexa for hospitality would assist in providing services ranging from ordering room service to requesting housekeeping or calling the concierge for dinner recommendations without picking up the phone. |

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has become the richest man in the world with a net wealth of $141.9 billion, the Forbes World's Billionaires list showed on Monday. Bezos' wealth has grown more than $5 billion since June 1 to beat Bill Gates, the principal founder of Microsoft Corporation, who is the second-richest man in the world with $92.9 billion. |

For most U.S. fund managers, beating the market this year has come down to one decision: whether or not to own shares of Amazon.com Inc. More than 70 percent of the actively-managed U.S. large-cap funds that are beating the 3.5-percent gain in the benchmark S&P 500 own shares of the Seattle-based e-commerce giant, according to Lipper data. His online marketplace might be the most visited shopping site in India, but for Jeff Bezos, founder and chief executive officer of technology giant Amazon, it is still Day 1 in the second most important market for the company outside the US. From talking about how Alexa, its cloud-based voice service, plays devotional songs in local Indian languages to Amazon India working closely with communities in rural areas, Bezos tried to ascertain that the online marketplace had now become part of the culture in the country and had adapted all its services and offerings accordingly. |

Amazon.in might be the most visited shopping site in India, but for Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of the technology giant, it is still Day 1 in what may be the second-most important market for the firm outside the US. Bezos, in a letter to customers, said that Amazon now has customers in 100 per cent serviceable pin-codes in the country and is shipping packages from more than 50 fulfillment locations in 13 states. |
