Marlin Firearms makes rifles , which are sold by gun dealers, sporting goods retailers, and mass merchandisers throughout the US. It also makes the LC Smith series of shotguns. The firm's original model 1897 is considered "the Cadillac of the .22s." John Marlin founded Marlin Firearms in 1870 as a maker of pistols, revolvers, and derringers, and built it into one of the largest US manufacturers of .22 caliber rifles. Famous markswoman Annie Oakely used a Marlin and had one model designed especially for her.
