| Thomas Built Buses, Inc. | | Thomas Built Buses is North America's leading bus manufacturer, offering a full line of school, commercial and specialty buses to value-minded buyers. More than one third of the school buses on the road today are Thomas Built Buses. From its manufacturing facilities in High Point, North Carolina, Thomas produces more than 15,000 buses per year. Thomas Built Buses manufactures three different types of buses: Type C conventional buses, Type D transit-style buses for longer routes and increased seating capacity, and smaller Type A Minotour buses. In addition, Thomas manufactures commercial overland coaches and specialty vehicles. The company was founded in 1916 by Perley A. Thomas, who began renovating and building streetcars. In 1936 the company began to produce school buses.
