This segment also involves in wood and upholstery operations. The Retail segment operates 31 company-owned stores in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas. The Investments/Real Estate segment holds interest in the Bassett Industries Alternative Asset Fund, a portfolio of marketable securities, an investment in the International Home Furnishings Center, and retail real estate utilized by licensee operated BFD and BHF stores. As of November 29, 2008, the company's network consisted of approximately 115 retail stores, of which 84 were independently owned and 31 were controlled by the company.
