Under tough market conditions in 2008, Arçelik A.Ş. sustained its top position in the domestic market with a 54% share, made even tighter by 3.5%. Despite constraints in the Turkish white goods industry, the company gained a business profit of 440 million TL in 2008, thanks to its making even greater improvements in its products and services. In 2008, Arçelik A.Ş. made 143 international applications, climbing 35 ranks higher and landing at 101st among the top 500 companies with the highest rate of applications around the globe to become the only Turkish company on the list of the top 500, as published by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
