| KF Industries, Inc. |  | KF Industries, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was founded in 1962 as a contract machine shop providing services for local manufacturers. The original owners were Gene Key and Odell Friar, thus KF. In 1972, KF began manufacturing its own limited line of needle valves, this being the first marketed “KF” product.KF Series C floating ball valves were introduced in 1978. This threaded end, carbon and stainless steel valve design was well received in the oil and gas production market and continues to be in demand to this day. Several other floating ball valve variations followed. By 1982, KF was producing a comprehensive offering of threaded and flanged end valves. Sizes ranged from ¼” bore through 4” bore with pressure ratings to 3000 psi.
During the early to mid-1980’s, KF Industries, like many other companies serving the oil and gas industry, felt the squeeze of a harsh economy. KF was able to “weather the storm”, with the timely introduction of another innovative product, the Series T trunnion ball valve.
