| West Energy Ltd. |  | West Energy is an oil and natural gas exploration and production company with operations in western Canada. West Energy Ltd. has a large portfolio of drilling prospects in one of western Canada's most prolific light-oil plays, the Nisku area in Alberta. West Energy Ltd. produces more than 6,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, and in 2007 it reported that it had proved plus probable reserves of more than 7.3 million barrels of oil equivalent. In the latter half of the decade, West Energy acquired stakes in the Beaverhill Lake light oil play and the Warburg area of Alberta as well as the Montney gas play in British Columbia.
